I have Magnaflows on mine and I'm very pleased with them. Dan Jones has done testing with Magnaflow mufflers and they lose very little HP.

As for a ‘noise video’, that will have to be later. I’m still cooking up the coolant ‘Y’ that I need to mount the remote thermostat.
No cooling system, no noise video.

I like your plan!
I used Magnaflows on my Pantera 180’s, too. They were just too damned loud for street use with the ‘mufflers' that came with them.
I’ve attached one pic of the setup.
I thought I had a good plan, but the 180 flanges are not pointed parallel. So all my good measuring and muffler ordering didn’t work worth a shit.
The outlets are pointing at each other, so I had to rotate or cant the mufflers so they’d fit.
Sigh….
Round mufflers would work much better, but I already had them and started mounting them, so….

Overall plan: alum block windsor (600ish flywheel hp), 180 headers [1] - its the last motor so i'm going nuts.

Yes, those are 3" ID SS Magnaflows that are oval and fit into the 'hole' where the stock mufflers fit.
The tailpipes on the car are 3" header to tip and I wanted to keep the ID.

Anyway, I used the two reasons above to convince myself that I needed to put mufflers on the car with minimal impact to the performance.
I did some searching and found these. They knocked the high frequencies off big time. It's still loud, but it doesn't hurt the ears as much.
The fit right into the opening where the normal mufflers go, as you can see in the pictures.
I'm pretty sure these are the ones, but need to confirm to be absolutely sure.

They are 3" ID all the way through, so I can't see how they'd impact performance much...
Magnaflow has lots of different option with number of inlets, number of outlets, sizes, offset, centered, etc. etc.
Summit's website allows you to narrow down the selection to what you need very quickly.

it has a custom built cage that was installed in the car by Dennis Quella years ago.
Gray had the car worked on at PPC and it was there for a long time...

It is bolted in, which may be a problem when it comes to tech.

Lots of guys have told me they really like Tom Upton's Pantera at the track. He's a hoot to watch on the starts.
He doesn't really try to qualify any higher than the top 10 because when they start, he just goes screaming out of the bunch and ends up in the top 3 anyway by the time they get to the first corner..

I've not actually raced yet with them, but watching the group Tom is in is fun. There are some big block 'vettes that just out horsepower him on the big straights, but he gives them hell in the short chutes and corners. He's usually in the top 2 or 3 and does win races. Good fun.
Next month is the training event and I'll be a student for all three days. I'll have to do corner working and stuff like that, plus get the car tech'd and see if it passes or not.
You know how that goes... I'm sure I'll end up spending more money.

That's what I meant when I said 'race car'. It's in my garage now.

I've been spending time and $$$ getting it vintage legal. It now has 15" wheels and slicks (used to have 16" and 17"), it has GTS flares.
I've added a safety net. Some cooling system mods almost finished.
The biggest problem is the motor. It's a 705HP, 431ci, A3 heads and about as non-vintage as you can get.
But it does have a carburetor!

The local CVAR guys have sort of hinted strongly that they'll let it run with them, but if I start winning, the motor will have to become a maximum 358ci vintage motor with cast iron heads. Upton is running cast iron 4V heads, but he's pinned them (something done in the '70's that I only just found out about) and put some serious aluminum port plates on them to raise the exhaust port. He claims he shifts at 8500rpm. All I know is that the hair on my arms stands up when he comes by on the straight at TWS.

Does he still have the ranch? I loved the way those Long Horned cattle used to run to the fence to listen to his race pantera running...it cracked me up.
I though the cattle were dumb..they smart as Gray said no one eats them..they are ornamental cattle....oh geez has Texas changed1 ;-)
