So the problem as I see it is kind of like this, as I noticed it
watching the start of the cars ahead of me.
The clock counts down to zero, -then- the guy with the green flag waves
you through. You can lose up to three seconds there between zero on the
clock and you moving. The movement is what triggers the GPS to start going.
Also, you -do- have the GPS on full time prior to the start don't you?
You want to make sure it has a really good fix by the time you hit the
start line and do the reset.
When I got to the line, I attempted to begin my roll at zero -while- the
green flag was waving. It felt kind of uncomfortable because I know the
timing was off and I didn't want the guy waving the flag to be nervous.
This I think is why a better timing device is needed; one that triggers
off the same GPS zero signal.
PS, for JB, I stepped through -all- screens on the GPS; the only screen
that has decimal precision for average speed is the Trip Computer
screen. Unfortunately it doesn't to current speed. This was also
verified by one of the guys on the SSCC forum.
