Tonight, as I was beginning to go over the forms for entry into this
year's SSCC, I decided it was time to check the date codes on my tires.
The fronts are coded 3810, which means sometime in September 2010,
making them three years old come this September. The rears are coded
0612, meaning June of last year. Wow, those rear tires must have been
steaming when they arrived at my house, they were so fresh. That makes
the rears only a year old. This should be good to pass tech in Ely come
September.
I'm planning to enter the Grand Touring class with a target speed of 120
MPH. The next tire tech rule comes into play in Grand Sport which
requires tires be no more than four years old.
The only thing I need to order at this point are arm restraints. Amazon
has a good price and I'll combine it with other stuff and get free
shipping. Wheeeeeee!
I've had a plethora of booked weekends; finally this weekend I may be
able to get into the car again. I need to look over things, and start
on my list of to-dos.
Talking with my support team recently (Retired Major Laughton), there
may be a change in travel plan. We might overnight on the way to Ely.
He's not certain he wants to be on the road for 12 to 14 hours. So I
might arrive Thursday around noon now instead of Wednesday late.
It should be a fun trip this year.
