Dear Master of Speed,
You said that you were going to pull off the front air dam and rear
view mirrors and intake ears. I can see where that would help
aerodynamically, but I am concerned about front end lift without an air dam
at those speeds. What am I missing? Could it be the proverbial
tongue-in-cheek pre-race dis-information strategy to throw off the
competition?
Still confused, Chuck Engles

Subject: [TPR] Tires for 200 Mph?
Dawg Report
Saturday Mr. Russ Fulps will be doing a engine leak down check on my 200
Mph Pantera, checking valve train, spring pressures etc at Mr. Dick
Drenske's shop who will check my chassis, suspension and make sure I am
ready 4 weeks in advance to Silverstate.
Gonna pull out intake ears and pull off side mirrors and run with no front
air dam.
I have to make a decision on what 200 mph tires I need for September if I am
gonna run 200+ passing Mark, Rich, AJ, and JB next month. Yea someine has
gots to do it. ;-)
Limited choices here in nonrace tires but MICHELIN and CONTINENTAL tires
both have tires that will work for me althouh because they are only Y ated I
quess I will be forced to run less then 200 mph again ;-(
Of course if I was Rowdy or AJ I could just run V rated tires right? Okay
just kidding...haha
The two models that are Y (186 MPH) rated tires that fit my wheels thar will
pass tech but should not ever go 200 mph unless I am driving but the rear
tires are 27" tall tires ...so were these the tires on Charlies race
car????
Michelin Super Sport or Michelin Pilot A/S 3's) in
245/45/17 fronts
285/40/18 rears or;
CONTINENTAL Extreme Contact DW's also are 245/45/17 fronts with 285/40/18
fronts...
I'll miss my BFG tractor tires that did go 200 mph in sun, rain, ice, and
snow and still look new but
IL Duce
