Asa,
I had a paintless dent removal guy here in Topeka work on a black Olds 442 I owned about 10 years ago & it turned out perfect as it appears yours did. We all know how smooth a black car has to be & how any small imperfection shows up like a sore thumb. Those guys are amazing in what they can do without damage to the paint! :o)) Glad it worked out for you so well!!

Some of you may remember I spoke about this:

My Pantera was backed into at the Ash Springs Shell station by a disabled woman in her 2011 Chevy Malibu. (which by the way has a trunk line -higher- than the top of a Pantera but that's no excuse). I immediately called Hagarty and left all the details on their after hours answering machine (what? no live people on a Sunday afternoon?)
I drove it the rest of the way to Las Vegas for the SSCC banquet, one -not- to have been missed this 25th Anniversary year. I then drove it the 1,100 miles home back to Spokane, WA.
When Hagarty called me back, they had already heard from Gieco who said their client had admitted full responsibility. I got some estimates.
I had the alignment checked, it was fine.
I took the decals off the damaged area and polished it with Meguire's #4, #7 and then topped it off with some wax. No cracks, no blemishes, just some ugly dents.
I took it to a paintless dent removal guy last Friday. The same guy worked on it last year to remove some unsightly -small- dents and lots of door dings on the passenger side. He said he could probably get this fender back to about 98% of what it was. I said, that'd be fine, I'm not starting a restoration. He said if he couldn't get it to 98%, he'd call me and we'd then take it to a real body shop (that I already had an estimate from). That was last Friday.
Sunday, I flew to Long Beach.
Monday, I had dinner with Mad Dog and Dick Drenske.
Tuesday, I hadn't heard from the dent guy.
Wednesday, I hadn't heard from the dent guy... I'm starting to worry.
Today, I miss my dentist appointment because I'm so busy at work I simply forget.
I get a call from my dent guy.... the cat is done and she looks gorgeous.
Something about 40 year old Italian metal and a white paint job that simply won't give up. He was elated it came out so much better than he thought it would. The attached photos are from the dent guy as he received it, worked through it, and finished it.
$500
I pick her up tomorrow. I'm jazzed. :)
Asa Jay
