[TPR] The shocks are here...

Dear Asa,

About ten years ago when I upgraded to the PPC Koni shock&spring combo, I , too, had high hopes that it would be a quick bolt on affair. Well, the expected four hour job used up the whole weekend. Oh, well. The first drive after the switch from stock 40k mile suspension to the new PPC suspension was a whole new car experience. The weekend work was worth it.

                                          Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

PS: don’t take as much cough medicine as David has been taking. I am concerned he may be using a bit too much……. J

Initial test fit of the shocks tonight. As indicated in Dennis Quella's instructions, I'll need to trim the mounting tabs on the car a little in order to clear the top hats on the shocks. argh. I was hoping it was just a straight bolt-in affair. It won't take much, maybe an eighth inch overall. Otherwise they are all set up with appropriate spacers for mounting the bolts, nicely machined and a snug fit.

I'll try to get some photos tomorrow. BUT.... this darn cold is moving back into my throat and I may declare a down day tomorrow for recovery. We'll see what happens.

Yes, Sam has been doing better and being involved and helping Dad with the Pantera this year. I've been using it as leverage for things like homework too. (evil dad) :)
I told him that tomorrow night we might put the new shocks in, so he's all excited about that. He can't do much other than watch and listen, sometimes handing me a wrench if I help him through identification. I -do- try and talk my way through what I'm doing as much as I can to try and engage him so he learns. Even if he doesn't absorb it all now, his brain -is- catching some things, so it's valuable.

Shelley tells me he passed four feet recently too. I may end up the short guy in the family before too long.

... and boy are they pretty:

They came with spacers already mounted to the shock eyes, a special installation tool and an instruction sheet with photos. A package nicely done by Pantera Performance Center. We'll probably work to install them tomorrow night, and take more pictures.
