[TPR] Tires for Asa's Cat

>From when I was hunting tires to please Eric:

So I have 225/50x15 Toyo Proxes 4 on front. The plan now is to go with 225/60x16 Toyo Proxes TPT on the rear, diameter of 26.6  --  9 overall width ( to be mounted on 6 to 8 width wheel, optimum 6.5,--mine 8". If Eric doesn't like that my next chose is 245/50x16 Toyo Proxes 4, diameter 25.6 --- 9.8 overall width ( same as front except size ) (to be mounted on 7 to 8.5 width wheel, optimum 7.5 -- mine 8".

Eric said no to the Proxes 4 and Proxes TPT -- he wants same tire composition both front and rear. So I went with the 245/50x16 rear.

I don't see a problem with tire size difference on same with wheel ------- as long as the wheel width is recommended by tire manufacturer for tire used.

Bud #3400 ( looking forward to SORC )

I sent an email to Eric yesterday and I'm waiting on a reply.

If he's partial to Michelin Pilots, then maybe I'll go with the
Michelin Pilot Super Sport:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Super+Sport&partnum=245YR7PSSXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

Next question, would it be a problem to run different size front/rear
if the rims are the same width?

I'm looking at 245/40/17 for the Front
and 245/45/17 for the Rear, just to get a little more height.  Even
then it's nearly two inches shorter than stock.

think twice about cruising down a 2-lane country road with a latte in
one hand while talking on the phone and driving at 100 MPH, but they
think running an ORR at 95 is just too risky.  Crazy mofo's.  There is
no getting around the fact that ORR's are dangerous, but so is
spinning off the road into the weeds while screwing around.  There
have been more than one "listers" in the last 10 years do just
that......makes me chuckle a bit. :).  If you approach ORR's with a
healthy helping of caution, it is a lot of fun!  You just have to get
out there and actually find out what your can and cannot do.  Get the
best safety stuff you can afford and go out and practice on a track.

> The Michelin Pilot MXX3's were the best ORR tire, but they are not
made any more.  I have some Dunlops on my car now, but I don't think
there are any available ORR tires made in both 335/35/17's and
245/45/16's that fit my campy clones.  I'll have to buy new wheels
when these wear out or get too old.  Probably have to go with those
giant tractor tires like the DaWg next go round.  Those are from John
Deere, right?  Nothing runs like a Deere :)

all that already.
