[TPR] Autocross may not be the easiest

No it may not be the easiest, I don't know. But I can also see it being
difficult running a road course lap after lap. The only thing better
about that is constantly doing it again and again without stopping,
getting better each time you go around until you get it figured out.
With Autocross, you have to stop and wait your turn again. Then you
have to try and remember how the last run went, and what you could do
better. Even so.....
This weekend was a lot of fun. Instead of the old unused runway at Deer
Park Airport, we were able to setup the course on a large portion of the
actual road course at Spokane County Raceway. This put us on some of
the same track space that SOVREN will be using next weekend. The only
difference? A sea of orange cones.
This made the course very much one-way, and very fast. For the most
part, the Autocross course used the basic elements of the road course,
but made things tighter. In other words, a corner in the road coarse
might be good for 40 MPH, but with some autocross elements set up, you
may have to keep it within 30 so you don't miss the exit point -and- set
yourself up properly for the slalom before the entry to the next
corner. It made for a challenging, but extremely fun course.
In all, we got six runs yesterday and six today. The Pantera performed
well, within the constraints of my present equipment and driver skills.
I'm PAX'd really badly, in BSP due to the Fluidyne radiator and the
larger rear sway bar. The K&N air filter puts me out of stock as well,
and some might argue the Holley does too. ;)
Even so, I managed to pull out a second place each day, lucky for me
there wasn't too much competition in my class.
