Subject: [TPR] Grooved Main Bearings

O.K. guys there is a reason why nobody makes a fully grooved bearing but that
takes in to play, bearing speed, surface diameter, surface width,R.P.M. as well as
centrifical forces . Federal Mogul makes a 3/4 groove main for performance
applications . You see every time an internal combustion engine fires
it actually bends the crank, not much have you but it does happen ! The downward
force that is applied as the spark plug fires is how a engine is rated as far as
Horsepower & Torque (so to speek) That is also the reason why the rod bearing as
well as the main bearing is not grooved fully ! It requires that added bearing
surface to put up with the load .It actually has very little to do with
lubrication .There are a ton of other factors that come into play here but that
is the general idea .
