[TPR] OUR GREAT FLAG

Well said Mike, Chuck and Brian....
I am always touched by the 'little' stars and stripes in small corners of the
third world where a contractor or GI has posted his colors. I've seen them in
private quarters next to a bunk and on everything else from gen sets to
bulldozers in Afghan, Iraq and Saudi. They are always pretty small but you get
that same lump in your throat.

You guys up now? ;-)

Great story but it is Fort McHenry NOT Henry. I cringed every time he said
Henry.

If you every want to get chill bumps and try and try to hide the tear in your
eye visit Ft. McHenry on a clear windy day and before they finish building the
new visitors center. In the old visitors center you set in a little theater and
watch a video presentation of the same history of the flag that this guy tells.
Then at the end with the star spangled banner playing the curtains on the side
of the theater open and there is a huge old glory waving in the wind above Ft.
McHenry. Pretty dang touching. It is just outside Baltimore and well worth the
visit.

I have a flag that has been flown over Ft. McHenry.

Dear Bud,

Now you’ve done it. You’ve brought a tear my eye. I never knew
the story of Francis Scott Key and the battle at Ft. Henry details. I thank you
kindly for sharing.

Warmest regards and Happy New Year, Chuck Engles
