I am proud of you man....even though I want to throw up reading what you wrote.....running that little Miata and winning 4 trophies in 4 orr's...I may be proud of you....... but it is still GAY!
And your lucky no one in Texas saw you coming or going in that Miata....Agree good Christian folk in Fort Stockton but well the parties just get a little better in ELY Nevada at the Big 4 or at Jims Bar in ARNOLD Nebraska.
And Yea, YOU need to join us at the Spring (next month) in Ely...go to <www.sscc.us> to check out dates and get a room otherwise we can share a single room together!
I'm arriving with or without a Pantera on Thursday the 12th of May, staying at the Hotel Nevada....you gotta be a real man to party like gladiators with guys like you, Rowdy, John Bentley or Tom Di Iulio....there is just something RIGHT about running down main street with no clothes on in Ely while snow is coming down or riding on the hay truck in Arnold Nebraska that just feels right.
Dry heaving as I type this remembering you rubbing my back.
i hate to love you

Jack H. ran in the 110 class.
Teimann averaged 160.968, much larger attachments than I use!
When is the spring gig in Ely, maybe I should come out for some therapy?
BBORR is certainly a different event with TEN less Panteras.
I hate to say it out loud, 4 open road events and 4 trophies. (all luck and/or poor competition)
The events are fun, nothing like blowin' past a sheriff w/ a radar gun! but I miss the Pantera brotherhood and all the games. If you start talkin' about gladiators in Texas you should check for exits!
the web master had a family emergency, the results won't be up for a while (trip to australia and back). The folks in Ft. Stockton and Sanderson have a helluva community - they talk funny but are generally nice folks.
PS: I keep the Miata oil cooler bagged in the winter and was overheating on the way down. Once I took the bag of the oil cooler everything was under control, sort of. Oil temps at 220 (at speed), water saw 240 in town a couple of times. Power by Ford!
cheers,

Monseinor,
Congrats on the run and 2nd place in the Miata. You obviously nailed your time/speed average to do that well so congrats again....I'm not surprised by your 2nd place....as I recall you trophied in Nebraska at the SORC before.....but come on you pussy.....were you really worried about 220 oil temps... or was it the 100+ ambiant heat and humidity? HAHAHA
I've been following John Tiemann in his replica GT40 since he first started running it and it runs as good as it sounds. You didn't mention John's average speed but I am sure if he was hitting 200 in straights he must have averaged 150-160 yes? Worth mentioning he is a great driver.
What average speed did Jack run? 20th Place? Hell if you can't win, place or show, I'd still rather be the fastest or the slowest car as long as I was having fun which I am sure he, you and everyone else at the BORR were.
Which is one more reason I liked the La Carrera road race in Ensenada or the La Bufadora Hill Climb...who ever had the fastest speed in each division won.
TPR dying? Well it ain't dying yet in California, Nevada or Nebraska!
JB and I should make it next month and I think Rowdy and Bud and maybe 2 others (Frank Cirrincione & Jim Wallace?) will be at the SORC in August......JB and I plan to fly out to Nebraska in August to cheer on the troops and then bragg we have the fastest course average. ;-]>
Seriously, Rowdy and Bud ahve done a great job banging the drums and rattling cages and getting the word out.... and you know thats NOT easy when EVERYONE with a Pantera can barely stay awake. Which is why I am buying a slow boat this summer.
No Pantera's at the BORR? That only proves once again what old Drill Instructors used to say...and that was, that there are only two kinds of people that come from Texas........one was a cow with no nuts. . . And yea the other is GAY.... ;-))))))
Waiting for the Hawk, Kirby, or Gray in Texas to roast me alive ;-]>

BBORR 2011 report - sorry, NO Pantera content!
Unlimited was won by some frekin' corvette that average 165.888. second was J Tiemann in his GT 40 averaging 160mph w/ a trap speed of 202. If you ever get the chance to hear this puppy w/ the unmuffled 180 exhaust, have a tissue ready. Charlie Friend had a dizzy fail and the big mopar had a fire.
The only Pantera people I recognized were Jack Houp (former Pantera now GT40 driver) and Michael Frazier.
M. Frazier was 5th in the 120 class - fast by .050 mph.
Jack was 20th in a class of 29.
David got a second place trophy - no competition in my class. I did clock my tech speed of 124 in the traps, the little Miata pulling with all its heart!
Weather was WAY hot ( 95 or 100) - I didn't think my car would make it ( 220 oil temps), but all was in control.
Only 68 corvettes entered this year - it has become tiresome! I guess TPR is dying . . . . .
Good to hear Darryl put in a decent time at the Mojave Mile, at least SOMEONE is driving a Pantera these days.
all the best to my Ford friends . . . .
David

"It was kind of exciting, with fire and everything!
When cranking over the engine, fuel gushed out the secondary vent tube. "
OK kids, listen up!
A couple of winters ago I was converting the V8 Miata from EFI to carb. This involved a fuel pressure regulator and a new HEI ignition system.
First, I plumbed in the fuel system. Everytime I checked for leaks I had one fitting that would leave a gas smell on my fingers. Eventually, this was fixed (I thought) so I hooked up the ignition system and tried to start the car.
No start. WTF? I says to myself.
Check the fuel, yep pressure. Try it again. . . .. no start.
Better check for spark . . . .
Even a small fire, in the garage where the Pantera lives (that is connected to the house) is a BIG freakin' fire. (Hint: turn off the fuel pump before jumping out the a flaming car. Trush me.)
So, I picked up the fire ext. placed by the car (I thought I was no dummy . . .guess again) which oozed some stuff out of the nozzle that dripped on my shoe. (sound familiar old tymers?) Fire is getting bigger.
$#^&^&$% run in the adjoining kitchen for a salad bowl full of water. If you guessed this WASN'T enough water you win the prize.
While I'm having visions of a melted Pantera and a crsipy house (burning car is on jack stands, no chance to push it out side) I calmly walke out the garage door, picked up the garden hose, turned it on full and put the fire out. Note to self: don't forget to spin the motor without plugs to clear the water.
I believe the barely detectable gas leak had leaked a puddle onto the carpet below (safety hint).
Be careful, have a back up and don't mess with gas in a closed area.
Grouch and Dirty Safety Hint #1
"yes, we've got spark!"
