[TPR] Fishing trip to Alaska

JB,

I had to do it… I just saw that commercial and it puts spunk in my butt every time…. J

I have a TRG42 in 338Lapua and is by far my preference. I remember reading an article years ago about a bear in Anchorage that was shot by a 7mm mag. The kid went through two full magazines before dropping the bear. Afterwards it was discovered that the bear had been shot numerously with a 38spc as well on another occasion.

Yes serious. That would need to be a well planned trip as I have never set foot in Alaska. Adak does sound like a good meal but sitting duck. I would go for that in the agenda as well.

Brian

ok, back to reality Grasshopper.

If you are gonna hunt a Brown bear, bring something heavy (like your 338 or 408). Crazy how much lead you can throw at those things and they keep coming. There is plenty of Moose but probably want to go to B.C. for the Elk.

Still if you're like me and eat what you hunt, you can't do better than an Adak Caribou hunt. The Navy brought Caribou to Adak in the 50's as a source of food should supply lines get cut in winter and they just roam the island where there are no predators so they are outstanding. No migration, no running around, just fat, dumb, and happy!

If you are serious about planning a hunt, let me know and I'll get you some leads.

Hey you Jack Wagons step away from Manbie Pambie land… I am loving the new Geico commercial.

This started over a Alaskan fishing trip…. What about the hunting in Alaska? I have got an itch to drop a bear or something as exotic… Elk or Moose… never been… so what’s the scoop?
