I was flying passenger on a C-141 over the Pacific once. Napping
along nicely when a rather loud BANG! caught my attention and woke
everybody up. The plane seemed to lose a little altitude, though no
quickly and then all seemed fine.

A couple guys were cranking their heads around and asking "What was
that!? What happened!?" in rather panicked voices.

A couple seconds later, the aircraft crew chief comes strolling down
the isle, pops a small cover, peers in with a small mag-lite, hums to
himself and closes the door. "Nothing to worry about." he explains
and walks back to the cockpit.

We land in Hawaii without incident. Four days later I return to catch
the flight back to CONUS. It's not ready. Why?

Because we lost a freakin' engine over the Pacific and they had to fly
a new one in! "Nothing to worry about" my ass. Good thing we had
three other engines on that bird.

If you fly a fighter jet, never play "follow the leader" with a B-52.
They have eight engines. On average, they can shut down twice as many
engines than your fighter has and still fly....

Try following -that- in your little fighter.
